The Journey

Southern Co-op was founded in Portsmouth, UK in 1873 as a response to societal challenges at the time, with an aim of creating a business that would meet the needs of all. They operate in southern England and have more than 300 food, funeral and Starbucks coffee branches.

The Solution

It’s the first time Union Coop digitalises their loyalty program, and with two main businesses in grocery retail and in shopping malls, they hope to make their business more relevant to for the future.

They were looking to enhance the customer experience and using it to drive their growth.

"As Marketeers, we are always challenged so hard on showing return on investment, and that is not always easy to do. But this partnership with Lobyco is really going to make that direct link between what we deliver to our customers, and the impact that it actually makes."

Commercial Manager for Marketing & Engagement

Southern Co-op have an existing membership proposition, but no digital app. They are looking to digitise their membership and make it easier for members to join, as well as provide more value to their members through loyalty offerings. They hope to increase relevancy for all age groups with the new offering.

The Solution

In February, Southern Co-op, in partnership with Lobyco, will officially launch their new membership app across all their stores. This will mark a transformation in rewarding loyalty; members will have access to features like app offers, gamified campaigns and personalised challenges.

Lindsay Elliott has been a part of Southern Co-op for more than 18 years, now serving as the Head of IT & Business Improvement.

“It’s been a partnership from day one. I see Lobyco as an extension to our own team, and this will take us a significant step further to being able to give a lot more to our members.”

Lucy Avison is the Commercial Manager for Marketing & Engagement at Southern Co-op.

"Everything we are doing with Lobyco is all about bringing our membership experience into the 21st century, and modernising everything we do."
