At Lobyco, we recently welcomed our new CEO. Our former CTO, Ole Buch, was by the board appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the entire Lobyco organisation. A role, Ole Buch was surprised, but excited and proud to take on:

"It was a surprise to be appointed as the new CEO. I feel very honoured and proud, and now that I’ve had some time to reflect, I can see just how great a product we have with so many possibilities. We currently have 10 clients, all managed by a fantastic team, so I’m extremely excited about transitioning into my new role."

"What we've achieved in recent years, coming out of Coop Denmark, and proving to ourselves that our solution can work worldwide, really makes me want to push for even more. We have a product that can truly scale, and it’s quite unique with a lot of deep knowledge based in grocery retail—especially since we are a solution for retailers, by retailers. The challenge now is to get our product out to a wider range of clients, but it’s also very exciting. So, when I was asked to take over the role of CEO, I didn’t need much time to accept the appointment."

Ole Buch has been a part of the Lobyco journey since the beginning in 2020. Transitioning from a role as Payment Director with Lobyco’s current owner and biggest client, Coop Denmark, he possesses a large knowledge and a lot of experience of the organisation, the people and the products and solutions. All experiences and knowledge, he looks forward to bringing in as the new CEO.

"I come from a hands-on role where I worked closely with our CCO, Anders Mittag, to bring new clients into the business and help them get started. I love being out with clients, understanding our products in detail, and exploring how our solutions can help them achieve real business impact. That’s the perspective I bring from my previous role as CTO, so I’m very focused on the trends and changes in our field, such as loyalty at scale. I’m passionate about driving more engagement and bringing customers into our clients' stores, and I believe my deep knowledge of our business and retail tech will be very valuable in this new role."

Even though it has been a fast process being appointed and stepping into the new role, Ole Buch already has many plans for Lobyco going forward–with many focus areas–as he believes Lobyco is already in good place looking ahead, and he is excited to get started as the leader of Lobyco for the future.

"Looking ahead for Lobyco, there are several key areas I believe we need to focus on. First, with our owner, Coop Denmark—who is also our largest client—we need to re-engage with them to ensure they get maximum value from the app. We’ve seen tremendous success with our self-checkout features, and just two weeks ago, we hit one million transactions in the app. Continuing this momentum is critical for us."

"Secondly, it's about ensuring that all our other clients are getting the maximum value from our services while focusing on our own growth. We now have 10 clients, and we aim to add five more next year, with further growth in the years ahead. Our goal is to be on a growth trajectory without losing sight of providing the best possible product to our current clients."

"A third area is that we need to spend more time looking at where our product is headed. Since we come from a retail background, we've sometimes had a short-term focus, but I’d like us to broaden our horizon and look further ahead to plan for the future. We’ll be developing bigger visions and longer-term plans to guide us."

"What excites me most and truly motivates me is spending time with our incredible team, serving our clients, and bringing new clients on board. That’s where I see the most value in my role, and that’s what I’m most looking forward to."
